PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Calcium carbonate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CaCO. It is the main component of limestone, marble, etc. Calcium carbonate is usually white crystals, odorless, basically insoluble in water, and easily reacts with acid to release carbon dioxide [1]. It is one of the most common substances on Earth and exists in rocks such as aragonite, calcite, chalk, limestone, marble, and travertine. It is also the main component of the bones or shells of some animals. Calcium carbonate is also an important building material and has a wide range of industrial uses.

PRODUCT USES

Laboratory Uses

1. In the biological "extraction of pigments from green leaves" experiment, adding a small amount of calcium carbonate during grinding can prevent the pigment from being destroyed during grinding.

2. Calcium carbonate reacts with hydrochloric acid (usually dilute hydrochloric acid) to produce carbon dioxide: CaCO3+2HCl=CaCl2+CO2↑+H2O (the product calcium chloride solution can be used to standardize soap solution)

Industrial Uses

1. Used in plastic production

Calcium carbonate is widely used in filling resins such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and acrylonitrile butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS). Adding calcium carbonate has a certain effect on improving certain properties of plastic products to expand their application range. In plastic processing, they can reduce resin shrinkage, improve rheology, and control viscosity.

2. Used in the food industry, it can be used as an additive in the food industry.

3. Used in the construction industry

It can be used as raw materials and interior and exterior wall paint for plastic factories, rubber factories, paint factories, and waterproof material factories. It has the characteristics of high purity, high whiteness, non-toxic, odorless, low fine oil quality, and low hardness. Marble is also important.

4. Used in the chemical manufacturing industry

350 mesh to 400 mesh can be used to make gussets, downpipes, and chemicals. The whiteness is above 93 degrees. 400 mesh to 600 mesh can be used for toothpaste paste and soap. The whiteness is above 94 degrees. 800 mesh can be used for rubber, cables, PVC, and the whiteness is above 94 degrees.

5. Used in fine ceramic materials

Calcium carbonate can be used to prepare high-temperature stable, dielectric, low thermal conductivity, microporous and highly pure ceramic materials.

6. Used as a nutritional supplement

The main ingredient of most calcium tablets on the market is calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate needs to be taken with meals [18]. Calcium carbonate contains carbonic acid, which easily produces carbon dioxide in an acidic environment. It is not suitable for people with poor gastric acid secretion or who are taking gastric acid inhibitors.
